Why We Built a Mobile App for Vently — and how it's helping our hosts sell out events.

We didn’t build a mobile app because every startup needs one. We built it because discovery in San Francisco was split in half.
Hosts were putting their events on Vently.com, but the people who wanted to go were living entirely on their phones. Discovery was happening in texts, group chats, DMs — but the events were trapped on desktop tabs. By the time someone felt like going out, the moment was already gone.
Finding something to do is one thing. Finding people to go with is the real challenge in this city.
So we built the app as a bridge between the two. Every event on Vently.com now lives on mobile — easy to browse, easy to share, and easy to act on. You can see who’s going, join the group chat before the night starts, and plan your evening around the people — not just the flyer.
We built it for users — but just as much for hosts. They didn’t need another marketplace. They needed real access to attendees. A direct line to the right crowd. More people in the door.
The app was engineered by Brian Hamachek, whose last platform — Nearby — grew to 13 million users worldwide. It was shaped by Gargi Kand, who has helped build some of the strongest local communities in the Bay Area — from run clubs to wellness groups.
We didn’t build another event app. We built what going out in San Francisco should actually feel like.
